The operation of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) laboratory of the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital is suspended today, May 4, 2021, for disinfection, according to the medical center chief Dr. Mutya Kismet Macuno.
In a telephone interview today Tuesday, May 4, 2021, Macuno said she ordered the suspension of operations of the PCR laboratory for disinfection after the said laboratory has been coming up with invalid results.
Macuno added that the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) advised GCGMH to disinfect the said lab as a measure to improve the accuracy of the results.
Moreover, Macuno said that she hopes that the PCR laboratory will return to normal operations tomorrow, Wednesday, May 5, 2021.
The medical center chief said the PCR lab is not busted and merely subjected to disinfection procedures.
Meanwhile, Macuno said that the prior to the suspension of operations, the PCR laboratory operated for 16 hours a day.
