Tagbilaranons get financial aid from Sen. Joel Villanueva
The office of Sen. Joel Villanueva provided some city residents financial aid as facilitated by City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II via the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), a report from the City Media Bureau says.

About 331 beneficiaries composed of the city scholars and displaced barangay workers received the financial assistance.
First district Rep. Cong. Edgar Chatto has also been channelling funds to Tagbilaran City through the TUPAD program with around 191 beneficiaries from the city receiving the cash assistance.
Mayor Yap is grateful to leaders such as Villanueva and Chatto for their assistance especially during times like the pandemic,
“We are truly thankful to our colleagues in public service. We really need all the help we could get. The pandemic has definitely put a strain in the local economy. Thus, financial assistance like this would go a long way in helping our displaced workers”, Yap said.
TUPAD program of the DOLE is a community-based assistance package, employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.
The types of work covered by the said program are repair, maintenance, and/or improvement of common public facilities and infrastructure such as schools and health centers, debris clearing, de-clogging of canals, debris segregation and materials recovery, stockpiling and clearing.
Other works performed under the TUPAD program are repair, maintenance and/or rehabilitation of farm-to-market roads, bridges, post-harvest facilities, public markets and common service facilities such as production and display centers, fishports, and agro-forestry community projects, such as tree planting, seedling preparation, and reforestation.
The payment of wages of the TUPAD beneficiaries is coursed through money remittance service providers.
Meanwhile, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) or its accredited training institutions will be tapped to conduct the skills training for the TUPAD beneficiaries under its Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP).
