Mayor Yap turns over brand new motorcycle to city police
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II is shown turning over the key of the new Honda motorcycle to Tagbilaran City police chief Lt. Col. Mary Crystal Peralta, during the April 29, 2021 simple rite. This information was released to The Bohol Tribune by the City Media Bureau.
The new motorcycle will be a reinforcement to the monitoring and surveillance operations of the city police.
To date, the city police is actively going on with its anti-criminality campaign which includes Oplan Double Barrel, drug clearing and household tagging, and training of the Barangay Peace-Keeping Action Team.
According to the city police force’s year-end report, the city police was able to seize more than P 23 million worth of suspected drugs in 91 operations with 127 drug personalities arrested as a result of the said operations.
The city police have also actively conducted lectures and seminars on anti-illegal drug operations and advocacy lectures among the youth, the City Media Bureau report says.
Mayor Yap recognized the city police’s dedication and commitment to their tasks.
“Through the efforts of the City [Philippine National Police] PNP, the peace and security in Tagbilaran City have been upheld. They were also instrumental in the border control and health keeping measures implementation during this pandemic. We are hoping that the new motorcycle will strengthen their efforts”, Mayor Yap said.
Aside from the City PNP’s core mandates, the police force is also actively involved in community-based initiatives such as tree planting, Kapwa Ko Sagot Ko program, flyers distribution, information lectures on terrorism, and resistance education for illegal drugs dubbed as Project Ready.

ROTARACT-Tagb donates swab panels to city gov’t
The ROTARACT Club of Tagbilaran turned over three (3) swab panels to the city government on April 30, 2021, the City Media Bureau says.
The donated swab panels will be then endorsed to the City Health Office (CHO) and placed in the swabbing center in barangay Poblacion 2.
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II recognizes the valuable contribution of the various civic organizations based in the city.
“We are truly grateful for all the help that we have been getting. The support and cooperation from our partner organization makes our burden lighter, we will be forever grateful”, Yap said.
Just last week, GUGMA Tagbilaran donated digital thermometers and pulse oximeters to Coronavirus disease (Covid) patients in Tagbilaran.
CHO Jeia Pondoc said the digital thermometer and pulse oxymeter will greatly help the patients in monitoring their health status.
“Pulse oximetry is a non-invasive and painless test that measures your oxygen saturation level, or the oxygen levels in your blood. It can rapidly detect even small changes in how efficiently oxygen is being carried to the extremities furthest from the heart, including the legs and the arms. So, for those who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, this will assist and guide us on what interventions to take”, Dr. Pondoc said.
The pulse oximeter is a small, clip-like device which is attached to a body part, like finger, toes or an earlobe. It is often used in a critical care setting like emergency rooms or hospitals. GUGMA Tagbilaran volunteers distributed the gadgets to the families affected by Covid.
