All systems go for Tagb’s MRF
After the successful rehabilitation of the open dumpsite at barangay Dampas, It is reported that the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) is now ready to process the waste generated by the city’s residents.
The said MRF features a pyrolisis machine that will be used to incinerate the garbage.
The MRF also has a bottle crusher/pulverizer, heavy duty sheer shredder, bio-shredder, 1-tonner rotator composter, mortar mixer, bailer, semi-automated conveyor, and hollow block molder.
City Administrator Cathelyn Torremocha said that a feasibility study for the hollow-block making livelihood program is being worked out.
“We need to think of ways to capacitate our workers in the dumpsite. Also, equipping them with new skills can open doors of opportunities which could eventually improve their lives,” Torremocha said.
According to the City Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENRO) Ceasar Pelaez, the 9,000 sq. m. property houses more than 30 workers who are focused on the segregation of collected garbage.
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II is optimistic of this new development.
“This facility promises a lot of good things to the Tagbilaranons. Our wastes will be managed efficiently and possible livelihood activities will be birthed out. But this facility is still not enough to manage our wastes efficiently, we need the support and cooperation of each household. Let’s all be mindful of our wastes, through proper segregation, we can make our contribution count”, Yap underscored.
The entire facility is scheduled to be up and running on July 1, 2021 coinciding with the City’s Charter Day.

Tagb’s Karatedo Team wins big in world tilt The fighting spirit of the Tagbilaranons cannot be stifled by the pandemic.
Despite the strict health protocols imposed on various sports competitions, the Tagbilaran City Karatedo Team-Sphinx Shotokan Karatedo International Japan Karate Shoto (SSKI-JKS) University of Bohol Junior High School (UB-JHS) overcame the obstacles and made a good showing in a recent competition.
The SSKI-JKS UB JHS Tagbilaran City Karatedo Team won in the Budokan World e-Karate Championship Series 2021.
Eight competitors made the city proud led by gold medalists Stiffany Mae Alvarez and Jian Carlo Lectura, silver medalists Vince Confesor and Carl Justin Lectura, and bronze medalists Ernest Dylan Corbita, Mark Vincent Lucero, Joshua Rebuta, and Florencio Reyes.
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II was congratulated for the feat and acknowledged the pride which the team gave to Tagbilaran City.
“The victories they have achieved during this health crisis is truly commendable. It goes to show that no obstacles can stop their aspiration to harness their craft. More than the competition, it is their optimism and positivity that makes us proud”, Mayor Yap said.The team also won in the Ramon S. Franco Online e-Kata Tournament and LUZVIMIN International Friendship Game e-Kata Tournament held last January and February 2021.
