DTI orders price freeze on certain products

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has ordered a price freeze on certain products following President Duterte’s declaration placing the entire country under a state of calamity on May 10, 2021 due to the African Swine Fever (ASF), according to an information from the said agency.

The DTI said that based on section 6 of Republic Act (RA) 7581 as amended by RA 10623, or the Price Act, prices of basic necessities in area proclaimed or declared a disaster area or under a state of calamity or under an emergency, shall be automatically frozen at their prevailing prices or placed under automatic price control, unless sooner lifted by President Duterte.

The DTI lists down the products under price freeze in its announcement and this list is published on page eleven (11) in this paper. 

The price freeze shall remain effective in the duration of the state of calamity as declared by Duterte.
