National Museum turns over restored Loboc church to Tagb diocese

The National Museum of the Philippines (NMP) turned over on Sunday, May 16, 2021, the San Pedro Apostol Parish Church and convent in Loboc town to the Diocese of Tagbilaran, after the said church was finally restored with the help of the said government agency.

The structure, that includes a bell tower located just across the street from the main church, sustained significant damage during the 2013 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit Bohol.

Moreover, the said church was again impacted by another natural disaster when the Loboc River overflowed and caused flood in the said town in 2014. The flood occurred when Typhoon Seniang hit Bohol. Furthermore, the flooding was said to be the worst ever experienced in Loboc for the past 70 years, according to reports.

Meanwhile, the almost 130-year-old pipe organ of St. John the Baptist Parish Church located in Garcia-Hernandez town was also turned over also on Sunday.
The restoration work on the G-Hernandez pipe organ started in 2019 and its full restoration and installation was completed last month  The blessing and turnover took place only on Sunday, May 16, 2021.
