The Bohol Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) approved on third and final reading the proposed ordinance that provides guidelines in the implementation of pre-emptive evacuation in the event of disasters that will be about to occur in Bohol.

In the proposed ordinance, the mayor, upon the evaluation of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (LDRRMC), may declare a pre-emptive evacuation as a measure to mitigate the possible loss of lives that may happen in an impending natural disaster like a typhoon.

Likewise, an Emergency Operations Center is designated to disseminate public warnings and to undertake multi-stakeholder coordination, manage information and facilitate resource mobilization in anticipation of the impending disaster.

An evacuation of livestock under certain circumstances is also provided in the proposed ordinance.

The said ordinance also gives trainings and orientations by the Provincial Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDDRMO) on possible natural hazards in order for Boholanos to be well prepared when disasters and calamities strike.

Vice Gov. Rene Relampagos said the approval of the ordinance is vital to the reduction of possible destruction to properties, injuries and loss of life in the province in the event of an impending disaster.
