Town News – Panglao

Panglao mayor Leonila Montero (inset) issues Executive Order (EO) No. 16 series of 2021, outlining the implementation of Article 2, Sections 67 to 69 of the Revised Comprehensive and Sustainable Management, Development, and Conservation of the Fisheries, Aquatic and Coastal Resources in the Municipality of Panglao, Province of Bohol or Municipal Ordinance No. 2 Series of 2015. The EO outlines the process in order for marginal fishermen to secure a fishing permit from the local government unit (LGU). These fishermen indicated are those who are engaged in fishing activities in the town’s municipal waters. The fishermen who want to secure a fishing license need to coordinate with their respective barangays to start the licensing process. The EO stipulates that the period for the application of fishing license shall run for two months from the effectivity of the EO, which is May 17, 2021. While waiting for the permit to be released, the marginal fishermen will be allowed to engage in legal fishing activities. All marginal fishermen are advised to reach out to their respective barangays if they wish to apply for a fishing license, an information from the LGU said.

This mobile community pantry is supported by the Philippine National Police, Rotary Club of Panglao Island, which is led by its president Dr. Julie Cogo, Asst. Gov. Romeo Dominice Balaba. Other supporters of the project include Brylle Mars, Jhema Micutuan-Prado, Mary Jane Dominice Balaba, Minda H.
