Tagb starts vaccine rollout to senior citizens
Tagbilaran City has started the vaccine rollout to those who are next in line in the priority list. They are the senior citizens of the city according to a report from the City Media Bureau.
This comes as the city health authorities administered vaccines to some frontliners who are yet to receive their first dose and those who are supposed to get their second dose.
After the senior citizens, it will be the turn of persons with co-morbidities to get vaccinated.
The City Government strictly adhered to this mandate, administering vaccination to the more than 1,000 frontliners on March 23, 2021. On May 20, 2021, the city government started the vaccine rollout for senior citizens.
The senior citizens who have been pre-registered may proceed to vaccination sites which are Bool Elementary School, Tagbilaran City Central Elementary School, and Tagbilaran City College.
The members of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) made it a point that in order to ensure the fair allocation of the vaccine, a priority list was created by the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG), which is a team of health experts.
After the persons with co-morbidities, the economic frontliners will be next in line to get the jabs. The essential frontline workers include uniformed personnel and those in the working sectors identified by the IATF as essential during the enhanced community quarantine imposed nationwide.
The prioritization was based on the risks of exposure and physical condition in compliance with the World Health Organization’s recommendations of giving priority to medical front liners and those considered as “high risk” such as senior citizens and those with co-morbidities.
Meanwhile, City Health Officer Jeia Pondoc shared the information that another set of vaccines is due to arrive on the 3rd quarter of this year.

Tagb’s SEF continues to provide the needs of public school students
The Special Education Fund (SEF) of the City Government of Tagbilaran remained to be indispensable in this time of the pandemic, as it continues to provide for the funding for the needs of the City Division of the Department of Education (DepEd)such as the provision of printing equipment, a report from the City Media Bureau says.
The City Government used the SEF to procure duplicator, colored printer/copier, heavy duty collator, table top binder, automatic heavy-duty stapler and heavy-duty paper cutter.
These pieces of equipment are now being placed in the Learning Resource Management System at the Tagbilaran City Central School to hasten the production of the modules.
All of the city’s public schools each received heavy-duty photocopiers, the same report bares.
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II is thankful to the taxpayers for their support to the DepEd and other projects of the city.
“The prompt payment of taxes by the Tagbilaranons made this initiative possible. Tagbilaran City’s Special Education Fund has been exponentially increasing since 2013 resulting to improved services in education. The SEF has been instrumental in providing additional classrooms to all the City’s public schools, security guards, laboratories, multi-purpose covered courts, uniforms, and equipment. We can really feel our taxes working to improve the lives of our constituents,” Yap said.
Aside from the pieces of equipment, the City Government through the SEF also hired learning aides to assist the teachers in the preparation and management of the blended learning.
The learning aides are encouraged to guide the learners and parents to engage the students in other co-curricular activities so that the students can still have a platform to learn holistically in this pandemic.
The SEF under the term of Yap increased exponentially, from P25 million in 2013 to P78 million in 2020.
