Cong. Edgar Chatto, despite his tight schedule, still devotes enough time to   oversee the implementation of national government programs, after attending virtual sessions in Congress. This is according to a report from the solon’s office.

On Thursday, May 27, 2021, he joined the representatives from Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) together with Gov. Arthur Yap and Mayor Elizabeth Mandin of Catigbian, during the turnover of livelihood assistance to the Mantacida United Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative for their meat processing (Longganisa production) project in Catigbian town.

DOLE was represented by Bohol Officer in Charge Angeli Salgados and Labor Employment Officer Jun Pono.

Chatto expressed his commitment to continue in supporting the DOLE programs, not only in the area of livelihood, but also in matters about employment programs as he also continues to join virtual orientations of the implementation of the Expanded Special Program for the Employment of Students (E-SPES) and the Tulong Panghanapbuhay Para Sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) programs which are backed by DOLE.

To remember, Chatto authored the expanded summer job law which has now been amended to include not just poor but deserving students but also out of school youth and dependents of displaced or about to be displaced workers due to business closures, or work stoppages, or natural calamities who are 15 to 30 years old.

From Catigbian, the first district congressman proceeded to Loon town together with Yap, Vice Gov. Rene Relampagos, Board Members Ricky Masamayor, and Aldner Damalerio, and linked up with Loon mayor Elvi Relampagos and Canhangdon Oriental barangay captain Pablito Sagetarios. In this event., Chatto participated in the blessing and inauguration of the completed covered court in barangay Canhangdon Oriental. Chatto facilitated the budget of P2 million for the said project.

While in Canhangdon Oriental, he updated the people there about the Mandanas ruling of the Supreme Court that will create an impact in local government finances when it is implemented by 2022.

The ruling of the Supreme Court in favor of the petition of Batangas Gov. Mandanas declares that all national revenues are included in the computation for the “just share” of the local government units (LGU) and not just income coming from the Bureau of Internal Revenue as defined in the Local Government Code.
On Tuesday, May 25, 2022, Chatto shared the information about the Mandanas ruling with the barangay officials of Dauis during their Barangay Summit.
