BCC bags CHED Gawad Parangal trophy, Certificate of Eligibility
The Buenavista Community College (BCC) added another feather to its cap after it bagged the Gawad Parangal trophy and Certificate of Eligibility during the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Gawad Parangal award for Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) on May 22, 2021 at the Cebu Normal University Centennial Stage, Cebu City, a report from the local government unit (LGU) of Buenavista says.
BCC was one of the five LUCs  given honor during the Gawad Parangal awarding rites along with Carcar City College, Lapu-lapu City College, Trinidad Municipal College and Talibon Polytechnic College. These LUCs were honored for having complied with all the requirements needed for the granting of institutional recognition by the CHED.
Moreover, the recognition was given via the CHED en banc Resolution No. 564-2020, giving the said institutions the eligibility to avail the benefits of Republic Act 10931 otherwise known as the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act.
During the awarding ceremony, the ceremonial distribution of tertiary education subsidy (TES) grants to grantees, which includes students from BCC was also made.
LGU-Buenavista and chairman of the BCC’s Board of Trustees (BOT) Mayor Dave Duallo and College President Dr. Analiza Chua personally appeared to receive the awards from CHED Chairperson Dr. Prospero De Vera III, Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) Executive Director Ryan Estevez and CHED Regional Director Dr. Maximo Aljibe.
