University of Bohol – Victoriano D. Tirol Advanced Learning Center (UB VDT-ALC) shines anew as two of its students made it to the top five in their respective categories during the last National Schools Press Conference held on March 9-13, 2020, in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. Jacobe Joaquin M. Sevilla (left) placed 3rd in the English News Writing (Secondary division) while Timothy John A. Jala (right) placed 5th in the English Editorial Writing (Secondary division) despite facing stiff competition from the other participants all over the country. The two students were assisted by their respective coaches, Rhea Jane Austero and Rapunzel Caspe, and school paper adviser Frances Jeanne Ferniz. Aside from academics, the said school also has students who excelled in sports. With its state-of-the-art Olympic-sized swimming pool, UB VDTALC has produced Philippine record holder swimmer and member of Philippine Swimming Team who competed in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, Rian Marco Tirol. The said school also produced the reigning World Boxing Council featherweight champion Jessel Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo also studied for several years in the school while honing his boxing skills.
