Gov Yap says Duterte did not discuss SP vehicle purchase issue

Gov. Arthur Yap

Gov. Arthur Yap revealed on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, that the president never discussed with him the issue on the supposed purchase of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of vehicles, during their meeting in Dumaguete on May 24, 2021.

He made this revelation during a radio interview over Open Forum radio programon Tuesday hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado.

He said that even if the President had any knowledge of the issue, the former would understand that the planned purchase is initiated by the SP and not the executive branch of the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh).

In a separate interview, also on Open Forum, Board Member Aldner Damalerio said he
believe is too busy to read the complaints coming from the public.

Damalerio supported the remarks of the governor, that the President did not raise the purchase issue during the Regional Peace and Order Council meeting in Dumaguete.

The remarks of the governor and the board member stems from the allegation of a news item that appeared in a local newspaper called Bohol Chronicle, where it was alleged that the president asked the Capitol leadership to explain the planned purchase of the SP of 14 pick-up trucks that will be used as service vehicles of the board members and the vice governor.

The SP allocated budget for the purchase of the said vehicles, as the current service vehicles used by the members of the SP and the vice governor are already too old and frequently bogs down, according to Damalerio.
