Vice Gov. Rene Relampagos chided on Monday, May 31, 2021, the alleged “slanted”’reporting by a media entity in Bohol regarding the report stating that President Duterte has asked Capitol to explain the planned purchase of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) to purchase vehicles.
He made the statement in an exclusive interview over Open Forum radio program hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado.
He explained that the report that came out in a weekly newspaper called the Bohol Chronicle and aired via radio station dyRD, is “inaccurate” and seemingly “malicious” and “slanted”.
The vice governor said that it is inaccurate to say that President Duterte himself asked the leadership of Bohol to explain the circumstances behind the planned purchase of pick-up trucks for the members of the SP and for the vice governor.
He further explained that an anonymous complaint was lodged before the 8888 complaint hotline and per protocol, any complaint is forwarded to the appropriate agency. which in this case, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). This is the reason the DILG was the one that asked the Capitol to explain.
The vice governor said that the issue on the purchase of vehicles is included in today’s regular session of the SP, where the lawmakers will be coming up with an explanation about the purchase.
Moreover, Relampagos said that he and the rest of the SP welcome any complaint and they are willing to answer any issue leveled against them.
