Vice Gov. Rene Relampagos explained on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 that the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) are “sensitive” to public sentiment and for this reason they decided to purchase new vehicles for some offices of the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh).

Relampagos made the revelation during a radio interview, which is the official report of the SP to the public through Open Forum radio program hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado.

Relampagos said that during the regular session on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, he suggested to the SP members the purchase of vehicles for some PGBh offices instead.

The vice governor said he consulted the board members about his suggestion and all, but Board Member Elpidio Jala, agreed to the suggestion.

The idea came about as the original plan is for the old vehicles of the SP members that are supposed to be replaced by new pick-up trucks will be reassigned to some PGBh offices.

With the development, Relampagos said that instead of old vehicles, some PGBh offices will get the new vehicles that are supposed to be assigned to SP members and the Vice Governor.

Initially, a report bared that some SP members indicated their preference to assign new vehicles to the Bohol Investment and Promotions Center, Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development, Provincial General Services Office, Provincial Health Office, Provincial Veterinarian Office, and Provincial Agriculturist Office.

However, it is unclear if the new vehicles will be acquired through the budget of the SP or the vehicles will be procured using the budget of the receiving PGBh department.
