SP okays budget for additional aid to Boholanos

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) approved on June 1, 2021 a budget ordinance to fund various projects including a rice assistance program for Boholanos, according to a report.

The report adds that the approved supplemental budget amounts to P69.8 million.

According to the Office of the Governor, the rice assistance program seeks to provide each Boholano family, 8 kilos of rice.

Last year, the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) gave out rice assistance to each Boholano household as a form of assistance to those affected by the coronavirus disease (Covid) pandemic. Now the assistance will be given per family, according to a report.

Accordingly, the rice assistance program has a budget allocation of P47 million.

Meanwhile, also included in the budget ordinance is the procurement of transport vehicle that will be used for the transport of cadavers.

According to the Office of the Governor, the said vehicle will be customized, similar to an ambulance, but will transport human remains.

Vice Gov. Rene Relampagos said the vehicle will be great help for less fortunate Boholanos who have no ability to transport the remains of their dead loved ones from the hospital to the dead person’s hometown for a proper burial.

Meanwhile, other items in the approved supplemental budget are the allocation for establishment of fish feed pellet line facility, support funds for the conduct of HEART Caravans, funding for food and accommodation of frontliners, renovation and improvements of the offices inside the Governor’s Mansion compound, renovation of the old Department of Public Works and Highways building and allocation for hold-out funds for the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) loan for the acquisition of agri-machineries for cassava, corn, and fishpond rehabilitation.
