The local government unit (LGU) of Panglao is set to stage the 2nd Dive Festival this June 16 to 20, 2021, which was supposed to be held on May 4 to 9, 2021, according to information coming from the said town government.

Panglao mayor Leonila Montero and Coun. Amira Alia Montero-Caindec jointly announced the staging of the said event, the same information reveals.

The said event was postponed due to the situation in the province where there was a surge of Coronavirus disease (Covid) cases in Bohol.

The 2nd Panglao Dive Festival is part of the Department of Tourism Regional Office’s 1st DIVE7 Summer Festival, where diving festivals are held in the diving hotspots of Central Visayas such as Moalboal, Malapascua and Lapu-lapu City in Cebu province, Dauin in Negros Oriental, Siquijor and Panglao in Bohol.

According to the information obtained by The Bohol Tribune, a kick-off activity will be staged, which will launch the different diving competitions as part of the opening ceremony. 

Moreover, the same information bares that the Trade Fair will also open at the Moadto Strip Mall in barangay Doljo, Panglao, where diving related merchandise and other products will be sold to the general public.

Several officials from the Department of Tourism (DOT) are expected to grace the opening ceremony. 

Among those who are expected to attend the opening ceremony of the Panglao Dive Festival are Tourism Sec. Bernadette Romulo Puyat, Mark Lapid, chief operating officer of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, officers from the Tourism Promotions Board, and several top ranking officials from different agencies of the national government.

Influencers, key opinion leaders, celebrities from the nation’s capital have already signified their attendance during the 5-day event.

The said activity is part of the efforts of the administration of Mayor Montero to revive and rejuvenate the tourism economy of the town of Panglao.
