IATF eases restrictions on fully-vaccinated senior citizens in GCQ, MGCQ areas

The Inter Agency Task Force (IATF), today, Friday, June 11, 2021, eases the restrictions on senior citizens living in general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified GCQ areas by allowing the latter to go out of their homes provided they carry their respective vaccination cards and observe minimum health standards, according to several reports.

However, the IATF says interzonal travel remains prohibited for fully vaccinated senior citizens, except for point-to-point travel.

Previously, people aged 65 years old and over are not allowed to go outside their homes for non-essential travel as they are considered to be at a higher risk for severe case of Coronavirus disease (Covid).Trade secretary Ramon Lopez and several business groups repeatedly lobbied the IATF to ease the restrictions on fully-vaccinated senior citizens in order to help revive economic activities.

Based on the data from the Bohol IATF, there are 15,496 senior citizens who had their first dose and there is no Boholano senior citizen fully vaccinated or have received a second vaccine dose.
