Tagbilaran’s fight against Coronavirus disease (Covid) has always been a priority since the start of the pandemic.
Now that the vaccines for Covid are made available through the initiative of the City Government, as supported by the Department of Health, and the Provincial Government, the Tagbilaran City Health Office ensured the simultaneous operation of all vaccination sites and accommodated walk-ins for senior citizens.
From three vaccination sites, there are now five vaccination sites in the city and they are: Bool Elementary School for residents of barangays Bool, Mansasa and Poblacion1; Tagbilaran City Elementary School for residents of barangays Poblacion2 and Poblacion3; Dao Elementary School for residents of barangays Dao, Tiptip, San Isidro and Cabawan; Booy Covered Court for residents of barangays Booy, Taloto, Ubujan and Manga; and Tagbilaran City College for residents of barangays Dampas and Cogon.
Mayor John Geesnell Yap II ensured the safe storage of the vaccines and personally checked the vaccination sites to ensure smoother operations.
“All the COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective and we encourage everyone to get vaccinated”, said Mayor Yap.
Moreover,Yap also thanked all the hardworking vaccination team of the five vaccination sites and also all the volunteers and health marshals who facilitated an easier flow at the area.
Social distancing markers, wearing of face masks and face shields were highly observed at the vaccination sites.
Meanwhile, frontliners and vaccinators also thanked Gugma Tagbilaran led by First Lady Jane Yap for the support of food and water.
According to CHO’s Public Information Officer, city health nurse Robin Culpa over an interview in a city-produced radio program, as of June 23, 2021, a total of 7,825 persons were vaccinated in the city. Based on the CHO’s record, the people who have been inoculated comprise the following categories: A1- 940 frontliners, A2- 4163 senior citizens, A3- 2,514 people with comorbidities, and A5-208 indigents residents of Tagbilaran.
City Health Officer Dr. Jeia Pondoc bared in an exclusive interview that, “We need to fight as one against COVID-19, we also need to be more patient of the challenges especially on protocol changes along the way for the safety of everyone. Most importantly, let us maintain discipline in ourselves and be responsible of our decisions. At all times, we need to decide not just for ourselves but also for the people around us.”
She continued: “We have to protect each other against the spread of COVID-19 and getting vaccinated is one way of protecting ourselves and others”.
The Covid vaccination sites in Tagbilaran are set to rollout the second dose of vaccines this Wednesday, June 30, 2021. The public is reminded to stay updated through the City Government’s official announcements using various platforms.
