Gov. Arthur Yap urged on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, the leadership of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Central Visayas to intensify police visibility as a way to curb criminality especially against insurgents in remote areas in Central Visayas.
The governor made the statement during Tuesday’s Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) virtual meeting.
Yap asked PNP regional director Brig. Gen. Ronnie Montejo to also conduct medical and dental missions especially in the hinterlands to address the needs of the people.
According to the Provincial Information and Media Relations (PRIMER) office, other topics discussed in the said meeting included the drug situation in the region, the overall peace and order situation in Central Visayas, vaccine rollout, the status on the support for the Barangay Development Program (BDP), and programs of the National Task Force on Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict, among others.
Other personalities who attended the meeting were the top officers of the PNP in the region, officials of the regional Department of Health (DOH), and other officials of law enforcement agencies in Central Visayas, the same PRIMER report says.
