The local government unit (LGU) of Panglao closes the stretch of Alona Beach in barangay Tawala starting today, July 1, 2021 until July 15, 2021, according to an announcement posted by the LGU on Wednesday, June 30, 2021.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau are set to conduct some scientific procedures in the area, according to the announcement.
The beach area will be opened to the public once the scientific procedures are done.
The LGU said that snorkeling and legal fishing activities are allowed as long as the said activities will be done 200
meters away from the shoreline.
Businesses located along Alona beach are allowed to operate, the LGU added.
The LGU points out that swimming, picnics, or any sea-related activities along the shoreline of Alona beach are prohibited between today and July 15, 2021.
