Boholano doctor receives 2 awards from PMA

A Boholano doctor receives 2 awards from the Philippine Medical Association (PMA), acccording to reports reaching The Bohol Tribune.
Dr. Benito P. Atienza, President of the PMA handed 2 awards to Dr. Kazan Benigno S. Baluyot, FPCP, FPCC, during the 114th PMA Annual Convention and General Scientific Meeting held June 20-23, 2021 via virtual platform.
A plaque of recognition and apptrciation was awarded to Dr. Baluyot for his commitment and dedication rendered as Governor for Central Visayas which has contributed positively to the achievements of the Association during the administrative year 2020-2021.
The second award of plaque of recognition and appreciation was given to Dr. Baluyot as Vice Chairman of the 26th PMA General Assembly for his time and effort while performing with integrity and excellence the duties of a leader.
During the event, Baluyot gave an introduction of the keynote speaker of the convention, Dr. Edsel Maurice Salvana, an Infectious Disease Specialist, who is the Director for the National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology and of the National Institute of Health-University of the Philippines Manila.
Salvana advises the Philippine government regarding the Covid 19 response as a member of the Technical Advisory Group of the Department of Health (DOH) and the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF).
Salvana and Baluyot were classmates at the Philippine Science High School in Diliman, Quezon City and also both are classmates at the University of the Philippines, College of Medicine, Philippine General Hospital.

Baluyot was elected to be the next Chairman, 27th General Assembly of the 115th PMA Annual Convention and Scientific Meeting in the year 2022. He is a Consultant of the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital, a visiting consultant at the Holy Name University Medical Center, Ramiro Community Hospital, Tagbilaran City Community Hospital and holds a clinic at the Borja Family Hospital.
Baluyot is the son of the late Atty. Manuel Baluyot and Mrs. Fancy Baluyot, President/Chief Executive Officer of the Philippine Gift of Life Foundation.
