Tagb celebrates National Disaster Resilience Month

In celebration of the National Disaster Resilience Month, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) mounted a motorcade on July 2, 2022, showcasing all the disaster response vehicles acquired by the City Government through the years, a report by the City Media Bureau says.
 All units belonging to the emergency response fleet of the Tagbilaran CDRRMO together with partner organizations Chocolate Hills Amateur Radio League, Inc. (CHARL), Tagbilaran City Fire Station, Philippine Red Cross – Bohol Chapter, participated in the said motorcade in celebration of the National Disaster Resilience Month. 
 The celebration carried the theme: “Tamang Pamamahala’t Kahandaan, Kaalaman at Pagtutulungan Sa Sakuna at Pandemyaý Kalasag ng Bayan”. 
The activity also emphasized the importance of partnerships to mitigate the impact of disasters that happen in the city.
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II stressed the value of disaster preparedness and management and reiterated how the City Government handled the challenges of the various risks and hazards in Tagbilaran.
 Indeed, through the leadership and all out support of Mayor Yap and the dedication and commitment of the CDRRMO team, the city’s ability to respond to disaster situations has improved through skills development and acquisition of  relevant equipment and vehicles.
 The CDRMM also played a major role in the fight against the Coronavirus disease (Covid) pandemic. 
Moreover, the CDRRM via its Research and Development arm headed by Chao Longjas will be conducting workshops to assess and review the 3-year Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management plans of all the City’s 15 barangays.

The organic garden at the City Veterinary Office in Brgy. Tiptip shows the much-needed promise where it was featured in the official Facebook Page of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI). City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II is truly grateful to the ATI headed by Carolyn Mae Daquio and the City Agrivet under Dr. Genette Egos for the Food Always in the Home (FAITH) Program. With the pandemic stillin our midst, the availability of fresh vegetables will definitely help in sustaining the health and nutritional status of every Tagbilaranon. The City Government is looking forward to replicate this program in every household. Organically grown vegetables that are affordable will definitely be a boost the food supply in Tagbilaran.
