Boholano soldier gets injured following Sulu plane crash

A Boholano soldier was, reportedly, among those injured in the plane crash that happened on Sunday, July 4, 2021, in Patikul, Sulu, according to information coming from the Provincial Information and Media Relations (PRIMER) office.

Reports say Cpl. Jessie Lord Galo, 32, of barangay Nueva Vida Sur, Carmen is among the injured soldiers.

He is currently admitted at the Southern Command Hospital in Zamboanga City, according to the PRIMER report.

Galo is among the 90 (more or less) passemgers of the ill-fated C-130 plane that crashed in Sulu on Sunday.

According to reports, Galo has been in the service for five years and was last assigned in Cagayan de Oro.

Galo’s mother was informed about her son’s status after an official of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) called her. According to reports, Galo’s mother was able to briefly talk with her son.

In that same incident, at least 50 persons were killed. The incident was about a C-130 plane of the Philippine Air Force that crashed in barangay Bangkal in Patikul, Sulu around 11:30 am on Sunday.

The passengers of the plane were traveling to Sulu from Cagayan de Oro City, according to the Joint Task Force Sulu.

As of Monday, July 5, 2021, the AFP ruled out foul play as the possible cause of the plane crash.

AFP spokesman Major Gen. Edgard Arevalo said that it is unlikely that the C-130 plane was attacked before crashing.

Moreover, Arevalo said prior to the crash, the ill-fated aircraft still had 11,000 hours of flying time before undergoing routine maintenance and insisted the plane was airworthy and flown by seasoned pilots.
