Report: 70% of Covid cases come from the working population age group

A report released on Thursday, July 8, 2021 revealed that 70% of the confirmed Coronavirus disease (Covid) cases in Bohol are from the 21 to 60- year-old age group who are categorized as those belonging to the working age group and mostly mobile.

The same report released by the Provincial Information and Media Relations (PRIMER) office said that 10% of the cases involve persons aged 61 years and older, while  20% of cases involve individuals aged 20 years old and below.

Moreover, 4% of Covid cases being treated in Bohol hospitals are asymptomatic and should be relegated to the temporary treatment and monitoring facilities (TTMF), according to the report.

Furthermore, 26% of cases are considered to be moderate and 16% of cases are touted to be mild. Mild cases are best treated in TTMF in the various towns in Bohol and not in hospitals, the report adds.

Meanwhile, provincewide there is a ratio of one bed for every 209 and the ideal ratio is 1 bed for every 1,000 persons. It means there are more than adequate beds in the various TTMFs in the province.

However, it is reported that 27% of asymptomatic cases and 36% of the mild cases are now in home isolation, which is not being recommended by the Department of Health (DOH).

According to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) the percentage of asymptomatic or mild cases that should be allowed in home quarantine should not exceed 10%. It has been established that home quarantine breachers are among the reasons for the Covid case surge due to monitoring and compliance limitations, the PRIMER report reveals.
