Tagb’s tourism workers get inoculated with anti-Covid vaccine
Tagbilaran City received a share of the 10,000 doses of the anti-Coronavirus disease (Covid) vaccines provided by the Department of Tourism (DOT) to Bohol.
DOT Sec. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said 10,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine have arrived in the city after vaccine czar Carlito Galvez approved her agency’s request for additional vaccines. The 10,000 Sputnik V vaccine doses will be allocated to the 5,000 tourism workers in Bohol, she added.
According to City Tourism Officer May Hope Arcenal, 500 accredited tourism workers from Tagbilaran City got inoculated with the 1st dose last July 8, 2021 at Tagbilaran City College (TCC). The vaccines were administered by City Health Officer, Dr. Jeia Pondoc.
“With these vaccines, we are assured that front-liners from accredited hotel and resort, transport operators, tour site, and restaurant facilities will have an added protection against COVID-19,” Puyat said in an online briefing.
Gov. Arthur Yap in an interview said tourism workers from DOT-accredited establishments that secured the Certificate of Authority to Operate and Bohol’s tourism seal of excellence called the Ultimate Bohol Experience (UBE) will be prioritized in the vaccination program.
“The promise of more vaccines arriving sooner than later is indeed great news so we can protect not only our residents but assure visitors that we are taking measures to assure their safety as well,” Yap said.

LGU-Tagb places Kinubkuban Reef’s demarcation lines
Tagbilaran City’s 4th marine sanctuary, the Kinubkuban Reef have been officially demarcated two weeks ago, according to information released by the City Media Bureau.
The said activity is facilitated by the City Agrivet Office (CAO) which is helmed by Dr. Genette Egos.
CAO’S Fishing Technician Robensita Abarquez and the Tagbilaran City’s Fish Wardens were the ones who implemented the said program with the full support of the Fish Visayas Project of the Afos Foundation and the Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).
Prior to the demarcation line placement activity, a series of workshops were conducted to carefully plan the said event.
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II is fully supportive of the initiative.
“The preservation and protection of the Kinubkuban Reef is a pro-active move to improve the City’s bio-diversity. Having a sanctuary is an investment of the community benefiting both livelihood and tourism,”Mayor Yap said.
Four months ago, the CAO led the inauguration of Kinubkuban Marine Reef Sanctuary in barangay Taloto.
Prior to the inauguration in barangay Taloto, the Fish Visayas Project and the BCCI donated materials for the demarcation of the reef.
Mayor Yap pointed out that the initiative is crucial in the protection of the environment. It can also provide the much-needed economic activity for the fishermen in the area.
An ordinance sponsored by City Councilor Glovasa declared Kinubkuban Reef as a marine sanctuary. The ordinance clearly outlined the rules and regulations which would govern the management and operations in the reef. With the ordinance in place, the reef will be protected and conserved, along with the sustainability of its aquatic resources. A management council, once established, will oversee the long-term plan for this marine sanctuary. The CAO, the Philippine National Police, the Philippine Coast Guard, the law enforcement officers of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Agriculture, and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and the barangay officials of barangay Taloto are all authorized to enforce the ordinance.
