We continue our discussion this week by taking a look at composite resin and what to expect.
When the dentist bonds the composite resin unto your tooth cavity or teeth cavities, the dentist essentially puts plastic material to repair damaged, fractured, chipped, or decayed teeth.
The resin can be used to make short teeth seem longer or can be used as a filling compared to the gray material used by dentists before.
While the resin can be used to repair the teeth, it cannot be denied that it is primarily used for cosmetic or aesthetic purposes. The resin allows the teeth to get fixed without getting noticed by other people.
The resin is molded on the teeth, usually the front ones, to give the appearance of a straighter and wider smile. It is safer compared to other forms of filling.
Ask your dentist if composite resin works better for you or the dental amalgam. The price may vary and it would be best to check if your dental insurance is able to cover this procedure.
The difference between composite bonding and dental amalgam is the same as with cement versus asphalt when fixing streets or roads.
Composite resin is like the cement as it blends perfectly with the rest of the road.
The dental amalgam is like the asphalt which is pretty obvious when used to repair the teeth.
