BEST BAR EXAMINATIONS EVER ON THE ROLL AND VISIT OF EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE INTEGRATED BAR OF THE PHILIPPINES, ATTY. ANTONIO C. PIDO, TO BOHOL

A few months ago, this author discussed the extensive changes of the upcoming 2020/2021 Bar Examinations on the four (4) Sundays of November this year. Dubbed as the Best Bar Examinations Ever by its Chairman, Hon. Marvic Leonen, Senior Associate Justice of the Philippine Supreme Court, among the notable changes of this year’s Bar Exams is that it will be computerized, and it will not only be held in Manila but across numerous testing centers all over the country.

Unfortunately, there is no testing center in Bohol. The closest testing center will be at the University of Cebu in Cebu City. Still, the proximity of the testing center brings comfort to the Boholano Barristers as they do not need to flock to Imperial Manila and may even go home every after exam in the Province of Bohol once the COVID-19 travel restrictions will be relaxed. Also, the fact that it will be using personal laptops will give a fair shot to those who have poor penmanship. We used to hear sad stories of brilliant candidates not making it through because of their unreadable penmanship.

Through Bar Bulletin No. 21, Series of 2021, Justice Leonen announced that the application process for the upcoming Bar Examinations has officially opened starting 15 July 2021 until 15 September 2021. The registration will also be online through the so-called Bar Personalized Login Unified System (BAR PLUS), a homegrown online application system through which prospective applicants for the November 2021 Bar Examinations will submit their verified petition, other required documents and information including proof of payment of the bar application fee.

Under Bar Bulletin No. 21, Series 2021, BAR PLUS was created to facilitate a safe, equitable and inclusive Bar Examinations. All potential examinees will submit their applications digitally and through mail. A potential examinee will be required to personally appear when there are difficult issues in their application which cannot be addressed in any other means.
