VG Rene, SP backs OCD programs in Bohol

Marlou Salazar

The Regional Director of the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Region 7, Retired General Marlou Salazar paid a courtesy visit to Vice Governor Rene Relampagos and to the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, during the group’s pre-session to discuss matters related to the establishment of a treatment facility here in the province, according to a report from the office of the Vice Governor.

Regional DIrector Marlou Salazar said he was here for the initial discussion of having a temporary treatment facility and to conduct an ocular inspection of the area where the said facility will be built.

Likewise, Salazar facilitated the trainings of local government unit (LGU) personnel, particularly the towns of Panglao, Carmen, and Tagbilaran City.

The training is for emergency operations and capacitating the LGUs in establishing the Emergency Operation Center so that the national, regional, and local task forces can have a coordination system, the report adds.

Just recently, the Provincial Government of Bohol received P10 million in financial assistance from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) to finance the purchase of the power generator sets for the TARSIER 911 substations.

In a separate statement, Salazar lauded the Provincial Government of Bohol for its recently approved mandatory Preemptive Evacuation Ordinance. He has acknowledged Bohol as one of the few provinces in the country to have the provincial ordinance for a mandatory preemptive evacuation.

Moreover, Relampagos and the SP were thankful to Salazar for helping Bohol address the challenges brought about by the Coronavirus disease (Covid) pandemic.

Relampagos looks forward to more future collaborations with the OCD.

Recently, a modern isolation facility in the Municipality of Tubigon was blessed and inaugurated. The facility has 16 air-conditioned rooms with restrooms and with doctors’ and nurses’ stations. The said isolation facility is said to have been funded by the OCD to the tune of P15 million.
