About 50,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson (J&J) arrived Monday morning, July 19, 2021, at the Bohol Panglao International Airport (BPIA), reports say coming from the Provincial Information and Media Relations (PRIMER).
The doses contained 11,750 vials and were received by Provincial Health Office (PHO) officer-in-charge Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, according to a report.
The provision of the one-shot vaccine for Bohol was first reported by The Bohol Tribune on Sunday, July 18, 2021.
It was reported that Gov. Arthur Yap personally negotiated for the provision of the said vaccine brand for Bohol with vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez and Tourism Sec. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat during the governor’s visit to Manila.
According to Capitol sources, the vaccines will be administered to persons who are included in the A2, A3 and A4 priority groups.
The J&J vaccines that arrived in Bohol are part of the 3.2 million jabs donated by the United States to the Philippines by way of the Covax facility of the World Health Organization (WHO).
The J&J vaccines arrived in Manila on July 16 and 17, 2021, according to reports.
Unlike the majority of vaccine brands available, the J&J vaccine is a one-shot jab. It means that it takes only one shot to fully vaccinate a person, reports bare.
