Some 1st District families get livelihood aid from DSWD

Some families from the localities within the 1st District of Bohol receive livelihood aid during another round of benefit payout, according to information from the office of Cong. Edgar Chatto.

The Livelihood Assistance Program (LAG) is part of the core program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) providing livelihood assistance during natural or human-induced disasters.

The LAG program provides support to low income families whose livelihood were affected due to the quarantine measures due to the Coronavirus disease (Covid) pandemic.

Beneficiaries are identified by the Local Chief Executives through their respective City or Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers and then endorsed to DSWD-Social Welfare and Development-Bohol for validation and verification, the report bares.

Chatto supervised the benefit payout to some families in Balilihan and Catigbian towns on July 19, 2021, the report adds.

On July 21, 2021, simultaneous distributions of the livelihood assistance under the LAG program were conducted in Baclayon, Dauis, Cortes, Sikatuna, Calape, Corella, Tubigon, Albur, and Panglao towns, the report mentions.

The following day, July 22, 2021, beneficiaries in Loon, Maribojoc, and Antequera received their livelihood grants.

Meanwhile, Tagbilaran City beneficiaries received their assistance last July 23, 2021.

Chatto said the livelihood aid is very much welcome especially amid continuing response to the pandemic.

In partnership with the DSWD and local government units, Chatto has facilitated and exercised oversight in the implementation of the important program to lessen the burdens of vulnerable families amid the health crisis.

The financial assistance is aimed to not only help families recover but also to enhance their existing livelihoods.
