The Bohol Tribune distances itself from new publication

The Bohol Tribune is distancing itself from a new publication that is reportedly being circulated in the interior part of Bohol. This has been decided by the Editorial Board of The Bohol Tribune led by its Managing Editor, Ardy Araneta-Batoy after the new publication called “Pobreng Bol-anon” re-published a news item of The Bohol Tribune without the knowledge and consent of the original author and the paper’s Editorial Board.

The publication identified as “Pobreng Bol-anon” published a story that originally appeared in the Bisaya section of The Bohol Tribune as its banner story.

The story that saw print in the new publication called “Pobreng Bol-anon” was written by The Bohol Tribune’s Associate Editor, Dave Albarado.

The so called “Pobreng Bol-anon” newspaper re-published the article entitled:”ARMAS, BALA, DRUGAS nakuha human sa ronda sa CIDG” and also printed the name of Albarado as the story’s author. .

In a statement, which appears on page 3 of the Trending section of this newspaper, the author and the members of the Editorial Board of The Bohol Tribune deny any involvement with the publication identified as “Pobreng Bol-anon”.

The author and this newspaper’s Editorial Board  emphasize that the “Pobreng Bol-anon” publication did not ask permission from The Bohol Tribune to reprint Albarado’s article. The author and the Editorial Board are also declaring that they do not subscribe to any of the editorial content or opinion expressed by the so-called “Pobreng Bol-anon” newspaper.

The edition of the “Pobreng Bol-anon” newspaper that re-published Albarado’s article, reportedly carried news and information critical to the present provincial administration.

The reports say that the said publication was being circulated in the interior part of Bohol, particularly in the town of Bilar.

The Bohol Tribune declares that it is a legitimate print organization and has been independently and continuously operating since 2015 and is a member of the Publishers Association of the Philippines, Inc.

The Bohol Tribune has a physical office and known members of the Editorial Board who are active members of the Bohol working media. The people behind The Bohol Tribune are listed in the staff box located on page 10 of this Sunday’s issue.
