Town News – Panglao

Panglao mayor Leonila Montero (inset) reports that the joint technical personnel from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Panglao – Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO),and the Panglao – Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), recovered eggs of a hawksbill turtle
and transferred them to a safer area. The eggs were recovered on the beach at Sunrise, Tawala, Panglao on July 24,  2021.

Similar to other sea turtles, these hawksbill turtle do their nesting procedures on tropical beaches such as in Panglao.

The National Turtle Catalogue Project identifies Balicasag Island and Panglao Island as among the diving spots in the Philippines where you can encounter a good number of hawksbill sea turtles. Contributed photo
