Police say they are ready to secure Bohol’s borders

Col. Osmundo Salibo

Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) director Col. Osmundo Salibo bared on Monday, Aug. 2, 2021, that the local police are ready to secure Bohol’s borders as the province is set to ban air and sea travel for 2 weeks starting Aug. 6, 2021.

Salibo said that Task Force Kalasag ni Dagohoy remains in effect, which is tasked to secure the province’s borders against unauthorized entry during the 2 week provincial lockdown.

Salibo revealed this information during a radio interview on Monday, over OPEN FORUM radio program hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado.

Salibo said that the Philippine Coast Guard is tasked to guard for possible entry of travelers via the local ports.

Moreover, the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (ASG) is the one responsible in implementing the travel ban at the Bohol Panglao International Airport (BPIA).

Salibo said the closure of Bohol’s borders is not new as this happened before during the early days of the pandemic.

He said that Bohol, back then, was able to promptly close its borders and keep the infection rates down.
