The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Aug. 4, 2021 announced the arrest of an individual by the NBI-Special Action Unit (NBI-SAU) in Quezon City for illegal practice of Medicine, a press release from the NBI said.

NBI Officer-In-Charge (OIC) Director Eric B. Distor identified the subject as Hazel Pablo also known as Hazel Pablo Laniog.

Distor said that the operation stemmed from a report filed by a complainant against the suspect alleging that the latter introduces herself as a Doctor of Aesthetic Medicine.

The complainant who is a licensed medical practitioner also added that the suspect had been using her name, signature and physician license number in prescribing post-procedure medicines to her clients in her clinic named ZSS Medicare Inc./Zelah Skincare Station located in San Antonio 1, Quezon City.

Witnesses also stated that there had already been complaints by some clients of the suspect of alleged botched medical procedures performed to them by the suspect.

Thus, on August 2, 2021, an entrapment operation was implemented to catch the suspect in the act of practicing medicine.

The entrapment operation by the NBI led to the arrest of the suspect.

A certification from the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) also showed that the name Hazel Pablo does not appear in the list of licensed doctors.

The suspect faces charges of violation of Republic Act (R.A.) 2382 or The Medical Act and violation of Section 10 of R.A. 9711 Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009; Estafa and falsification by private individuals and use of falsified documents, the press release said.
