Gov. Arthur Yap said today, Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, that there is a possibility that Bohol’s quarantine classification will become stricter if the cases of Coronavirus disease (Covid) will remain high.
He made the statement during Friday’s virtual press conference at the Capitol.
He added that it is possible for Bohol to be placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) or modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in the future.
Yap told the media that a stricter quarantine classification may be imposed if home isolation and people will fail to follow the minimum health standards.
Currently, Bohol is under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), which is the most lenient quarantine classification, according to the national Inter Agency Task Force (IATF).
Based on Executive Order No. 37, even if the province’s borders are closed to travelers, the province remains under MGCQ, which means the local economy is business as usual and will not be affected by the border closure.
Bohol closed its borders to travelers starting Aug. 6, 2021 until August 20, 2021, except authorized persons outside residents, overseas Filipino workers and returning overseas Filipinos as a way to prevent or delay the entry of the dreaded Delta variant.
