Third district Rep. Kristine Alexie Tutor defends her House Bill 6790 which is known as the proposed Sustainable Dev’t Goals & Ambisyon Natin 2040 Fund Act, according to the solon’s office.
The information added that the third district representative defended her bill before the House Committee on Sustainable Goals, chaired by Rep. Anne Suarez on Aug. 4, 2021.
According to the solon’s post on Facebook, that was the first time for her to defend her bill, which was referred to the said House panel.
Tutor added that she prepared well for the defense of her bill as she engaged with different representatives from national government agencies who were invited as resource persons during the committee hearing.
The proposed measure seeks to allocate funds for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the Ambisyon Natin (AN) 2040.
The measure aims to create an SDG AN2040 Fund to ensure that the Philippines meets the SDGs as a member state of the United Nations as well as to realize the visions under AN2040, considering that President Rodrigo Duterte signed Executive Order No. 5, 2016 formally approving and adopting the AN 2040 of the National Economic Development Authority’s program as the country’s main 25-year plan to eliminate poverty and hunger in the country, the explanatory note of the proposed law authored by Tutor said.
The said fund will be made available to local government units (LGU) SDG- and AN2040-related projects, and will be administered by a Board of Trustees comprised of seven (7) Department Secretaries as ex-officio members and four (4) appointive members from the private sector.
The SDGs—as a global initiative—and AN2040—as a fully Philippine endeavor- according to the solon should be pursued vigorously in the years to come, with the end-view of lifting millions of Filipinos out of poverty and raising the standard of living felt across the country.
In this way, Tutor added, the SDG AN2040 fund, created by the proposed measure, means to support the local government units (LGU) to implement anti-poverty, pro-prosperity projects.
According to sources, there will be a substitute bill that will be introduced by the author incorporating the inputs collected during the committee hearing.
