PCL Bohol to conduct medical missions in 2 towns

The leadership of the Philippine Councilors’ League (PCL) Bohol chapter plans to conduct medical missions in 2 towns next month.

This was bared by PCL Bohol chapter president Board Member Jescelo Adiong in a telephone interview on Aug. 13, 2021.

Adiong said that his group already had a medical mission in Catigbian town in June 2021, which was conducted in conjunction with the Provincial Government’s HEART Caravan.

He said that as the provincial leadership eyes to bring the HEART Caravan to the towns of Bien Unido in the second district and Sevilla town in the third district, the PCL decided to join the activity and contribute by way of conducting a medical mission.

Adiong bared that the budget for the medical mission comes from the PCL Bohol Trust Fund and will be used to purchase medicines.

The PCL decided to help bring government services closer to the people, through the medical mission. The medical mission, according to Adiong, is also the PCL’s contribution in the maintenance of peace and order especially in the remote areas of Bohol.

The medical mission, he said, is one way to show the PCL’s support to the Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict program of the government.

The PCL president, who also sits as an ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP), said the medical missions in Bien Unido and Sevilla are set anytime next month.

Adiong added that the preparations for the medical missions in the said areas will depend on his dialogs with Bien Unido mayor Rene Borenaga and Sevilla mayor Juliet Dano.

He explained that the PCL decided to focus on the medical needs of the people as some residents in the hinterland areas don’t usually get easy access to medicines and medical attention. With the pandemic, he stressed that health is a priority concern aside from livelihood and other basic necessities.
