Delta Variant enters Tagb

Tagbilaran City mayor John Geesnell Yap confirms that 5 cases of Delta Variant of the Coronavirus disease (Covid) have been detected in 5 barangays.

The mayor made the confirmation in a Facebook post on Monday, Aug. 16, 2021. The cases have been traced in barangays of Ubujan, Pob. 2, Cogon, Pob. 3 and Dampas.

These are the first reported cases of the variant of concern in the province.

In a post, Yap urged the people of the city to follow health and safety protocol and to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

The news of the entry of the Delta Variant comes as Bohol has been implementing a border closure to delay the entry of the variant that started on Aug. 6, 2021 until Aug. 20, 2021.

The border closure is being implemented as the National Capital Region and Cebu province are under stricter quarantine classification due to rising Covid cases as these areas are known to have Delta Variant infections.
