Bohol Inter Agency Task Force (BIATF) spokesman Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez revealed that the province recorded 757 active Coronavirus disease (Covid) cases where 6 patients are tagged as critical as of Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2021.

Moreover, 30 new Covid patients out of the 757 are hospitalized as they exhibited moderate symptoms, Lopez bared during the regular virtual press briefing on Tuesday.

He also said that there are 238 Covid-related deaths recorded in the province since the pandemic started last year.

Tagbilaran remains the top local government unit (LGU) with the most number of cases with 81 cases, Loon with 53 patients, Ubay with 46 active cases, Dauis with 42 Covid patients, and Maribojoc with 32 active cases, Lopez in his report added.

Furthermore, the BIATF spokesman said Bohol awaits for more vaccine supply as there are LGUs with no more vaccine stocks after they intensified the vaccine roll out in their area, Lopez said.

Meanwhile, Lopez said he joined Gov. Arthur Yap in a meeting with other governors in Central Visayas and the Department of the Interior and Local Government Usec. Epimaco Densing, where one of the agenda is the imposition of Alert Level 4 in Bohol.

Aside from Bohol, other areas in Central Visayas under Alert Level 4 are Cebu City, Cebu province and Siquijor.

The Alert Level 4 is not an indicator of the number of active Covid cases in a certain locality but pertains to the utilization or capacity of health care facilities in a given area.

Lopez emphasized that if the health care facilities utilization in a given area reaches 70% and above, then that locality will be placed under Alert Level 4, the BIATF spokesman explained.

Lopez revealed that Yap floated the idea of having modular hospital units to increase the bed capacity allotted for
Covid patients as a measure to address the medical needs of Boholanos in case the health care facilities utilization rate will surge further.
