Gov. Yap wants to find out the reason for the delay in the release of Delta variant genome sequencing result

Gov. Arthur Yap has instructed Provincial Administrator Kathyrin Pioquinto to inquire from the Philippine Genome Center (PGC) for the reason of the delay in the release of the results of the swab samples submitted by the province, according to a report by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) released on Aug. 17, 2021.

This comes as the PGC released information that 1 sample from Tagbilaran’s Coronavirus disease (Covid) patient is positive for the Delta variant.

During the meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council on Aug. 16, 2021, the governor showed the results of the genome sequencing made by the PGC on a sample from the province, which is positive for the Delta variant.

Based on the result, an Ubujan, Tagbilaran-resident tested positive for Delta variant.

The sample was sent to the PGC from Bohol on July 9, 2021. The result only came out on Aug. 15, 2021.

As this developed, the governor expressed concern over the delay in the release of results and has tasked the provincial administrator to find out the reason.
