Rene urges all to strictly observe protocol, get vaccinated

The Presiding Officer of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol (SP), Vice Governor Rene Lopez Relampagos,  strongly urges Boholanos to continue strictly observing the health protocol aside from getting vaccinated as the presence of a much stronger and more contagious variant of Coronavirus disease (Covid) in the province was confirmed recently.

Relampagos expressed his concern when one case of a Boholano infected with the Delta variant was announced by the Bohol Interagency Task Force (BIATF).

He said that the presence of the Delta variant in the province, which is highly contagious, can only be minimized, if not stopped, thru observing the basic health protocol the government has been advocating since the beginning of the pandemic as it can prevent infections, reduce the spread, and more importantly save lives.

Relampagos added that equally important to observing the basic health protocol is to get vaccinated because vaccines play a crucial role in possibly limiting the spread of the virus and minimizing severe effects of the disease.

The vice governor added that the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) has been doing its best in acquiring the much-needed vaccines for the province to vaccinate more people.

Moreover, Relampagos, along with the members of the SP, has approved a large chunk of the budget that was allocated for the province’s health programs which include the procurement of vaccines for Boholanos.

According to Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, the officer in charge of Provincial Health Office (PHO), based on data, 88% of those who died with Covid were unvaccinated, and 12% of the fatalities are partially vaccinated, while no fully vaccinated Covid patients died.
