Grand Nutrition Awards (GNA) is an annual awards event organized by the Department of Health (DOH) through the National Nutrition Council (NNC) in Region-7 for the best performing Local Nutrition Committee in the Barangay, Municipal, City and Provincial Level.
Tagbilaran City was awarded with the citation for Best in Nutrition Laws and Policies and Best in Governance and Organizational Structure, along with Barangay Manga which was awarded Best in Governance Award and Best in Changes in Nutritional Status.
Barangay Cabawan was also awarded the Best in Governance Award for Local Nutrition Committee Management and Functions.
Marline Jumarito from barangay Cabawan was cited as the Best Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) for the City Level in Region 7.
The Tagbilaran City Nutrition Council (CNC) chaired by City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II and City Nutrition Action Officer Dr. JeiaPondoc, congratulated the whole team led by City Nutritionist Rey Delos Santos together with the different agencies and all the Barangay Nutrition Committee for their commitment to bring malnutrition rate in Tagbilaran City down.
“Indeed, we are very proud of what the City Nutrition Council has accomplished in the middle of the pandemic. Despite limitations, they were able to meet and surpass their targets,” Mayor Yap said.
