Barangays Tiptip and Bool each received P400,000 as financial assistance from the city LGU. Tagbilaran mayor John Geesnell Yap II (center) provided financial assistance to the 15 barangays. Mayor Yap personally handed out the financial assistance to Tiptip barangay captain Jimmy Lantape (left) and Bool barangay captain Tata Angalot (right). Mayor Yap said the assistance could be used to augment the Coronavirus disease (Covid) mitigation efforts in the barangays.“During this pandemic, various expenses will put a dent in the budget, specifically during lockdowns. Thus, we saw it fit to allocate financial assistance to the barangays. This additional budget will help them address their budgetary concerns and at the same time continue the initiatives they have planned for,” Mayor Yap said. Along with the financial assistance, an amount for the hazard pay will also be given to the barangay workers involved in the mitigation and management. Photo courtesy of City Media Bureau

The City Government of Tagbilaran in partnership with “Gugma Tagbilaran” founded by First Lady Jane Yap, led a drive-thru vaccination event for the tricycle drivers in the city, a report from the City Media Bureau says.
The same report adds that more than a hundred tricycle drivers received the jab.
The drive-thru vaccination is still in line with the City Government’s target to reach herd immunity before the year ends.
For its part, “Gugma Tagbilaran” gave each tricycle driver who participated in the vaccination drive, five kilos of rice, face shield, and face masks.
The City Health Office (CHO) under the leadership of Dr. Jeia Pondoc spearheaded the initiative, supported by the offices of the General Services, City Mayor, Barangay Affairs and Constituency Unit, and the City Events, Culture, and the Arts.
Tagbilaran City has taken on the task of inoculating more than half of its population, in an ambitious effort to reach herd immunity as soon as possible.
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II is focused in mitigating the impacts of the Coronavirus disease (Covid) through the implementation of health protocol and vaccination.
“We do not know when this pandemic will end, but we cannot afford to sit down and do nothing. We will meet this challenge proactively by exhausting all means to stop the spread of infection. I encouraged everyone to get yourself vaccinated and be a part of the solution,” Mayor Yap said.
The vaccines against Covid are made available through the coordinative efforts of the City Government and the Provincial Government led by Gov. Arthur Yap and the Department of Health (DOH).
To date, the Tagbilaran CHO already increased its vaccination sites and accommodated walk-ins for specified categories.
According to CHO’s Public Information Officer, City health nurse Robin Culpa, as of August 2, 2021, a total of 15,705 persons have been vaccinated in the city. This is already 15% of Tagbilaran City’s total population of 104,976 persons.
These numbers clearly show the efficiency of the vaccination efforts.
The city targets to achieve herd immunity, especially that Tagbilaran is the commercial center of the Province of Bohol, the city has extended its Covid vaccination program to include all those working in Tagbilaran, regardless of their permanent address.
Tagbilaran City has five vaccination sites and the vaccination centers assigned to the different barangays are: Bool Elementary School for barangays Bool, Mansasa and Poblacion 1; Tagbilaran City Elementary School for barangays Poblacion 2 and Poblacion 3; Dao Elementary School for barangays Dao, Tiptip, San Isidro and Cabawan; Booy Covered Court for barangay Booy, Taloto, Ubujan and Manga; and at Tagbilaran City College for barangay Dampas and Cogon.
Social distancing markers, wearing of face masks and face shields are highly observed at the vaccination sites.
Mayor Yap thanked the hardworking vaccination team, the volunteers and health marshals who facilitated the traffic in the area.
