Gov. Arthur Yap formally requested the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) to change the quarantine classification of Bohol from modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) to general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions.
Yap sent a letter dated Sept. 6, 2021, to Health Sec. Francisco Duque and Cabinet Sec. Karlo Nograles asking the “escalation” of the province’s quarantine restriction.
The provincial government needs the permission from the IATF to change the quarantine classification before an executive order (EO) can be issued.
The request for escalation comes after the series of meetings among the members of the Bohol IATF, mayors, medical community, and the business sector among others.
The rising Coronavirus disease (Covid) cases and the high healthcare utilization level are the main reasons Bohol is asking the national IATF to change the quarantine classification from MGCQ to GCQ.
As of 8am, Sept. 7, 2021, Bohol has a total Covid active cases of 1,958 with a total death toll of 322.
In the past few weeks, Yap said Bohol has seen a daily attack rate of 10.
This means 10 persons per 100,000 population are exposed to Covid. An attack rate of 6 is considered critical, according to reports.
