BACK TO ITS OLD GLORY

The church of Nuestra Señora dela Luz  in Loon town is back to its former glory, beauty and splendor. It took 8 years of work to reconstruct and restore the church to its original magnificence after it was reduced to rubbles when the 7.2 – magnitude earthquake hit Bohol in 2013. The restored church was turned over to its legal owner, the Diocese of Tagbilaran on Sept. 7, 2021. The church was declared as a national cultural property by the National Museum of the Philippines. The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) also declared the church as a national historical landmark. The turnover was done on Sept. 7, 2021.
