BMS president wishes new GCQ status will be implemented properly

Dr. Mardy G. Fortich

The president of the Bohol Medical Society (BMS) is wishing that the new quarantine restriction in Bohol will be implemented properly.

This was the reaction of BMS president Dr. Mardy Fortich during a radio interview over Newsmakers ug Uban Pa program on Sept. 8, 2021.

She hopes that with the proper implementation of the new quarantine classification, the number of Coronavirus disease (Covid) cases here in Bohol will start to decline.

She remains hopeful that the public will cooperate in order to bring down cases and at the same time lower the healthcare system utilization rate.

The president of the doctors’ group in Bohol said people should strictly observe the protocol, and immediately seek medical advice after which, they should self-isolate when they show flu symptoms.

People tend to take for granted mild symptoms and still loiter, not knowing they are already virus carriers  spreading the disease to others, the BMS president said.

On Sept. 6, 2021, Gov. Arthur Yap signed Executive Order (EO) 45 placing Bohol under general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions until the end of Sept. 2021.

Previously, Bohol was under the modified GCQ, which is the most lenient form of quarantine restriction as imposed by the national Inter Agency Task Force (IATF).

The new quarantine restriction came about as Bohol has been experiencing a surge of cases, which leads to high healthcare facility utilization, according to the governor.
