DOLE provides financial aid to 5 Bohol groups

At least five groups of farmers and fishermen in Bohol will soon get around P1.83-million livelihood assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), according to the agency’s regional director for Central Visayas.

In a statement, DOLE Central Visayas regional director Salome Siaton said around 196 members from these groups of farmers are going to engage in livelihood activities a as they will be getting seed capital from funds coming from the Labor Department.

The financial assistance is coursed through DOLE‘s Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP).

The beneficiaries come from five groups based in Loon town, according to the DOLE official.

Siaton identified the groups as Canigaan Farmers and Fisherfolk Organization (CAFFO), Pederasyon sa mga Gagmay’ng Mananagat ug Mag-uuma sa Loon (PEGAMMA), Cuasi Fishermen Association, Talisay Fishermen’s Association, and Cansubayon Samahang Nayon Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

CAFFO members have received a total of P314,051 seed capital for their bangus production .

Likewise, members of PEGAMMA got P296,756 as seed capital for their “bahalina” production and marketing enterprise project.

Moreover, members of the fishermen association in Cuasi were given funding worth P401,280.

Likewise, members in Talisay obtained P413,158 to fund their all-season fishing activities

The Cansubayon Samahang Nayon Multi-Purpose Cooperative was able to get P410,500 as capital to finance their egg production activities.

All beneficiaries will be observing a sharing scheme of 70-30. It means 70 percent of the income earned will go to the members, while 30 percent of it will go to the association to help ensure its continuity and sustainability of operations, according to reports.
