First District Cong. Edgar Chatto pushed for budget allocation towards programs of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), particularly for programs consistent with efforts for the conservation of the Tarsier.

Last Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, he met with Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) Forester Ariel Rica together with Tagbilaran Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENRO) Elena Suarez and Planning Officer Forester Joan Estorpe.

They met at the solon’s Balilihan sub-office to discuss  proposed priorities of the agency in the 2022 General Appropriations Act.

With the budget hearing ongoing, Chatto called DENR Central Office and talked with USec. Mitch Cuna.

He also conversed with Regional Director Paquito Melicor and Assistant Regional Director Charlie Fabre to discuss priority programs specific to Bohol.

The DENR is set to appear before the Budget Hearing Conference with the Committee on Appropriations in Congress on Monday, September 13, 2021.

Chatto, steadfast in environmental protection and preservation programs, the current chairperson of the House Committee on Climate Change, assured DENR of his strong and consistent support for the priorities of the agency, especially in relation to programs implemented in Bohol.

Last month, Chatto joined the DENR officials in inspections of mangrove plantation in Loon and a bamboo and cacao plantation in Catigbian under the expanded National Greening Program of the agency.
