TCWI celebrates 100th yr. anniversary

The Tagbilaran Woman’s Club, Inc. (TWCI) will be celebrating its 100th founding anniversary on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021, according to information provided to The Bohol Tribune.

The Centennial celebration focuses on the theme: “A Century of Service to God, Country and Home”.

According to the group, TWCI is a non-sectarian and non-partisan organization, which was founded on Sept 21, 1921.

It is an organization founded by “Lumad” Tagbilaranon women who are known to possess great leadership skills, strength of character, and dedication for the general welfare of the people of Tagbilaran which is now the lone city in Bohol.

Pieces of information and facts about TWCI are found in a full-spread presentation on page 4 and 5 and in the People, Places, Events section on page 3 of TRENDING. .

Additional information provided to The Bohol Tribune says that TWCI was founded in the same year that the National Federation of Women’s Clubs of the Philippines (NFWC) was organized.

The same information mentions that the NFWC was created by the Manila Women’s Club, which is considered as the mother of all women’s clubs. The TWCI is part of the NFWC.

It has been touted that the emergence of TWCI as an all women’s group was part of the awakening of the ladies of Tagbilaran to serve and lead.

True to the character of the original settlers of Tagbilaran, the early presidents of this organization came from closely related families from its founding president – Catalina Fortich-Rocha, up to the present president – Enriqueta Borja-Butalid, the information reveals.

According to records, the organization was finally registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on August 25, 2015 under the incumbency of former president Idmila Calceta-Borja.

As TWCI celebrates an important milestone in its existence, the group gives tribute to the founders and past leaders of the grand organization of true blooded Tagbilaranon women of substance who planted the seed of deep love and respect to Tagbilaran – which is considered by its members as home.
